Gusto Italian seals ground-breaking partnership with PayCaptain as it pushes people-centric agenda

[6 April 2022]: Gusto Italian, the premium casual dining restaurant group, has announced a new partnership with PayCaptain, which will further strengthen its employee proposition and push financial awareness and wellbeing up the agenda for its people.

Gusto Italian’s family of employees will benefit from greater flexibility over pay, savings and pension planning, as well as having the opportunity to access pay on-demand. PayCaptain also provides tips and advice around saving money, and allows team members to access a pay, savings and pensions dashboard through the app.

As part of its deal Gusto Italian will introduce a new pension provider, Collegia, which specialises in making responsible investing accessible to all. Collegia directs funds exclusively towards companies that score high in ESG and stakeholder management metrics. In addition, it is the UK’s only combined auto enrolment and personal pension plan provider.

Matt Snell, CEO of Gusto Italian, said: “This is a really important move for our business.  We want to be a best-in-class employer, and that means working to introduce leading benefits and collaborating with best-in-class partners. This investment in PayCaptain means we are transforming what we do in this area for our teams – to a more flexible, engaging, and easy-to-access pay and pension set up. It provides a solution that really benefits our restaurant family.”

PayCaptain’s HMRC-approved payroll software also provides tips and advice around saving money, and allows team members to access a pay, savings and pensions dashboard through the app.  PayCaptain is also B Corp-certified, meaning it meets high ethical standards in several areas and has demonstrated its social and environmental impact. The assessment standards include performance, accountability and transparency on multiple factors from charitable giving to employee and stakeholder benefits.

Simon Bocca, Founder and CEO of PayCaptain, said: “We’re delighted to be teaming up with the team at Gusto Italian. We’re always looking to work with like-minded businesses, and the transparent nature of PayCaptain aligns with the way Gusto Italian runs its business and communicates with its teams. We’re looking forward to a long and successful partnership with Matt and the Gusto Italian family.”

Cloud-based PayCaptain is fully integrated into Yapster, Gusto Italian’s internal communications channel. As part of Gusto Italian’s commitment to transparency, anybody within the business is encouraged to submit a question through Yapster, anonymously, and the Gusto Italian management team commits to replying to them all, openly and for everybody to see.

Founded in Cheshire in 2005, Gusto Italian has almost 600 employees, known as family members, across 13 restaurants. The company’s most recent site opened in Nottingham in late 2021.
